...a lifestyle practice focused on minimizing distractions that keep you from doing what matters to you.

In a world full of consumerism, content and distraction minimalism is a movement to concentrate on the essentials and cut out the rest. It tries to free you from the overwhelming burden of all the stuff you have in your life.
Get rid of everything you don't need, make conscious decisions about what to do with your time, focus on what matters and what you really need and enjoy the new found freedom in your life.

The book Minimalism (2011) by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus and the Netflix documentary by Matt D'Avella about those two guys was a real eye-opener at the time for me. Even a movie, 100 Things (2018) (which is based on the real events documented in My Stuff (2013)), showed me what one can find in the idea of minimalism.
